September is Modes Month

MDS was built to adapt, accommodating evolving needs around managing emerging mobility. Now in development, the upcoming MDS 2.0 release will go beyond micromobility, adding new modes to the specification so that it can meet use cases around personal delivery devices (delivery robots), free-floating car share, taxis, and more. This work is focused on the architecture and design decisions needed to adapt MDS and is built upon initial learnings from cities and companies that have conducted related test projects.

“MODES MONTH” STARTS NOW

This September, the Open Mobility Foundation’s MDS Working Group will be focused on the addition of new modes. We are calling this sprint of work “Modes Month”. The next four working group meetings will focus on different aspects of new modes –passenger services, delivery robots, and carshare.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Meeting topics include:
 
  • Aug 18 – Modes Month kickoff and delivery robots use cases
  • Sep 1 – Passenger services proposal review
  • Sep 15 – Delivery robots mode deep dive
  • Sep 29 – Carshare kickoff
