REDEFINING URBAN MOBILITY TOGETHER

CoMotion is proud to host the OMF Summit as part of CoMotion LA ‘23. At the OMF Summit, you will have the chance to explore the latest advancements in our flagship tools, the Mobility Data Specification (MDS) and Curb Data Specification (CDS), and envision a smarter, digitally integrated urban world.

The OMF Summit will take place at the Japanese American National Museum on the first day of CoMotion LA on November 14, 2023. Welcome and Opening Panel: Civic Innovation Today

Digital infrastructure is driving the future of transportation and other areas of civic life. From improving safety, advancing equity, increasing accessibility, and tackling the climate crisis, leaders across the public sector have been working to create and implement technology that helps advance crucial policy goals in the modern era. Hear from these leaders on how innovation in the government really works, lessons learned from when it doesn’t, and how the public sector can adopt a modern approach to advancing the public good.

Speakers: Mollie Cohen D’Agostino, Brooke McKenna, Laura Rubio-Cornejo, Karina Ricks

1:30 PM – 1:45 PM

Break

1:45 PM – 2:45 PM

Panel – Digital Policy Deep Dive: Using MDS & CDS to Create Better Outcomes

Initially developed in 2018, MDS was designed as a “two-way street” – a common language that allows public agencies to share and validate policy digitally, communicating with mobility providers that operate on public streets and sidewalks. Now a mature data standard, hear success stories from cities that have been using MDS to communicate their curb and mobility policies to create safer and more accessible public spaces. Plus, discuss future potential policy use cases around urban aviation, autonomy, and other emerging technologies.

Speakers: Carlos Cruz Casas, Arielle Fleisher, Liza Josias, Connie Llanos, Jarvis Murray

Panel – SMART CURB STRATEGIES: Enhancing Safety with Intelligent Infrastructure

Modernizing curb management tools and policies can greatly impact public safety. Cities across North America are deploying innovative technologies and policy solutions that reduce the prevalence of vehicles blocking travel lanes, crosswalks, and bike lanes, and engaging in other unsafe practices. Hear from experts across public and private sectors as they discuss different strategies for improving safety in curbside areas, and learn more about the role of the Curb Data Specification (CDS) in enabling those approaches.

Speakers: Kelly Rula, Kelly Schmandt Ferguson, Jacob Sherman, Hank Wilson

2:45 PM – 3:15 PM

Networking Break

3:15 PM – 4:15 PM

Workshop – Future Forward: Data, Multimodal Transit Integration & Payments

In anticipation of the LA28 Olympic Games, LA Metro is leading several transportation projects, including integrated event ticketing, mobility wallets, exploring open loop payments and other digital infrastructure solutions to support the county’s mobility needs. One of those needs is to ensure that individuals across different programs can access the services they need, particularly unbanked and underbanked transit-dependent transit riders. Asking low-income residents to register for multiple social services programs (like EBT and discounted transit) in a fragmented process is akin to a poor tax. Join this interactive workshop to delve into the dynamics of sharing data for seamless multimodal trip planning and payments. Together we’ll address key questions around data sharing, explore innovative approaches to account-based integration or interoperability, and uncover strategies to address pain points related to digital identity.

Speakers: Marcel Porras, Tom Schenk

Panel – The Intersection of Curb Management and Open Data

We all know there is a transformative impact of effective curb management in cities. This comes from the intrinsic value of curbsides in cities, and the sharing, or opening, of that curbside data. Open data empowers cities with real-time insights, enabling informed policy decisions both inside and outside of municipal transportation departments, but this also requires connected technologies, capable technologies, sound data management principles, and data governance. In this presentation, we will explore these elements through the lens of Passport’s journey from point solution to platform technology. Then, we’ll open the discussion led by a panel of how technology partner integration is key to their success as seen with Cleverciti and Passport in Bend.

Speakers: Danielle Elkins, Cole Jaillet, Andrew LaMothe, Tobi Marx
